Checking in with our favorite people living their best Gaucho - Buenos Aires life. This week: @elianaromando
With her artwork housed in private and public collections in Argentina, Spain, Italy, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Mexico, America and Paraguay, Eliana Aromando is a natural-born traveler of the world – just one of the many attributes, in our humble opinion, that make her a true gaucho. Born in 1971, the self-taught Argentine painter is heavily influenced by her native land and its diverse horizons – vast plains, bucolic farmsteads and hilltop villages are the subjects of many of Eliana’s pieces, but she also takes inspiration from her global travels. Fascinatingly, Eliana never enters her work in any awards. Intrigued? You should be. Here, she tells us more about herself…
ELIANA PAINTING IN HER STUDIO, BUENOS AIRES
What’s a typical day for you?
I get up very early and from 8am I am in front of my easel working until 2pm. After, I like to walk and listen to music (The Killers, Imagine Dragons and Annie Lennox are on my playlist right now).
Tell us your secret BA hangout(s)?
I enjoy eating at Dadá and Roux; Vasalissa for chocolates; drinks from Presidente and sunsets at Crystal Bar. To unwind, I go for walks and get lost in the streets of San Telmo taking pictures, or I visit the El Ateneo gran Splendid bookstore and let an author call me from the shelf. The Museum of Fine Arts is also a must.

How would you describe your style?
From a very young age, I have incorporated the aesthetics of the gaucho into my closet – ponchos, hats and hair accessories – which is why I love Gaucho - Buenos Aires for its jackets, leather goods and accessories.
What are your top Gaucho - Buenos Aires picks of the season?
I love the Junin Jumpsuit in white – I'd wear it for an evening event – and the Talcahuano Jacket in White is ideal for cold winters. I’m into accessories and the Tilcara Hand-Braided Briefcase would be perfect to take to a work meeting. To finish my look, I’d add the Mercedes Corset Belt in Green, the Silk Ceibo Foulard, and the Quintana Hat.
